Volunteer Support
At Vancouver Hospice, our dedicated group of volunteers are an integral part of the team. All of our volunteers undergo a comprehensive specialized hospice training course.
Volunteers offer companionship, support, and a compassionate presence for patients and loved ones. They also manage the front desk, and are a kind and welcoming first point of contact for those entering the hospice. Volunteers are also available to sit vigil with a patient who is nearing the end of life. Vigils can be arranged through the hospice nurse.

Healing Touch:
Some of our volunteers are also trained in Healing Touch; an energy-based technique that promotes relaxation, harmony, and well-being. Healing Touch sessions can be arranged through the hospice nurse. For more info: Healing Touch.
Compass Chorus:
The Compass Choir is a volunteer group that gathers to sing at the bedside of patients staying at the hospice. The group is onsite every other Wednesday to offer songs of comfort and inspiration to hospice patients and loved ones.
Quilt Angels:
The Quilt Angels are a group of quilters who donate lovingly crafted hand-made quilts to the hospice. If the quilt in a patient’s room has become a meaningful part of the end-of-life experience, family members are welcome to take them home.
